Lanquin is a small town located on the northeastern edge Central Highlands in Guatemala. It is much hotter than in the highlands as it is located in the deep valleys between the mountains, is the entrance village to Semuc Champey.
Semuc Champey – Located about 10km outside of Lanquin, along rough road is a series of tiered limestone pools of varying shades of turquoise. A wild river runs underneath the pools here. Hike up to the mirador for a view pools. Swim in the pools and jump off of the rocks.
The Cahabón River flows underneath this bridge, creating a unique and beautiful landscape. The area is popular for swimming, hiking, and exploring the surrounding jungle. Semuc it’s a remote destination, and getting there typically involves a multi-day trip. The journey often includes travel from/to places like Guatemala City, Antigua, Lake Atitlan, Rio Dulce or Flores.
